
Ten common ways of practising meditation
Mindfulness Meditation: This type of meditation involves focusing on the present moment and observing thoughts and feelings as they arise, without judgment.
Body Scan Meditation: This meditation involves lying down or sitting comfortably and focusing on each part of the body, tensing and then relaxing each muscle group.
Loving-Kindness Meditation: This type of meditation involves silently repeating phrases of love and kindness to oneself and extending them to others, including friends, family, and ultimately to all beings.
Chakra Meditation: This meditation focuses on the seven chakras in the body and involves visualization and breathing techniques to align and balance the chakras.
Mantra Meditation: This meditation involves repeating a word or phrase, either out loud or silently, to focus the mind and calm the body.
Yoga Meditation: This meditation combines physical postures, breathing exercises, and mindfulness to promote physical and mental well-being.
Movement Meditation: This type of meditation involves gentle, repetitive movements, such as walking or tai chi, to calm the mind and connect with the body.
Breath Awareness Meditation: This type of meditation involves simply focusing on the breath and becoming aware of the sensations of breathing, using the breath as an anchor for the mind.
Guided Meditation: This type of meditation involves following the instructions of a guide, either in person or through a recording, to help focus the mind and achieve a meditative state.
Transcendental Meditation: This type of meditation involves using a mantra and is characterized by the repetition of that mantra to transcend thoughts and reach a state of deep meditation.
